2002 / The title for this video work comes from the opening image of the film,
an aquarium exhibit of a shoal of herring swimming in circles around their confines.
The piece continues with an array of views that present aspects of the wilder habitats
we inhabit and how we access and control these spaces. A pack of wolves are viewed
pacing back and forth behind a zoo’s perimeter fence, a man cuts steps into a glacier
ready for the tread of the summer visitors.
